Durango Mountain Camp's hand-picked
professional language therapists use an Orton-Gillingham approach
to tutoring. Individual students receive the following instruction
daily:
One hour of one-on-one intensive, individual language tutoring in reading, spelling,
writing and composition.
One hour of supervised study hall structured
by the language therapist.
One hour of composition and keyboarding which integrates technology with the language learning
process.
One hour of supervised oral and silent independent
reading based on appropriate literature.
For students who have a need for math instruction,
an hour daily of small group math instruction is available
for an additional fee of $500.

Evaluation Campers are tested both pre and post camp
to evaluate reading skills, reading comprehension, vocabulary,
spelling, and handwriting. An extensive written evaluation
with test results, academic recommendations and observations
from the counselors and outdoor pursuits staff, is sent to
each parent at the end of camp.
Day Camp DMC will admit a limited number of day students,
ages 8 -13. These students will follow the same academic schedule
and outdoor pursuits as boarding campers.
